The Carroll Medical Academy
CMA is an academic program that provides exceptional students who have an interest in entering a medical, dental, veterinary or research-based field with a challenging Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum beginning the freshman year of high school. Intensely focused on math and science, the program allows students to maximize their number of AP courses to earn college credit. The advanced coursework of CMA is the best preparation available to gifted students for the rigorous demands of college.

Program Benefits
Today, a student's GPA and class rank factor less and less in the decisions of top-ranked universities. Admission departments want to see that students were able to maintain good grades while academically challenging themselves and pursuing extracurricular interests. CMA not only strives to challenge students to their full potential, but emphasizes the application of various concepts in the medical field. CMA students are even given special elective courses not available to the general student body, including Medical Terminology and Biotechnology. Opportunities are made available for CPR and first aide training, HIPPA certification, professional lecturers, and Medical Internships.
The Carroll Independent School District (CISD), in conjunction with the Hudson Foundation, believes the opportunities available to students through the Carroll Medical Academy will continue to enrich and encourage participants as they work toward their goal of a career in medicine, dentistry, veterinary or other science-related occupation.
Internships
Internships are a wonderful part of the CMA program. Our students complete internships over the summer and senior CMA students participate in internships the spring semester of their final year.

Interested students from within or even outside CISD may apply for the CMA program during the spring semester of their eighth grade year. Application forms, transcripts, teacher recommendations and student essays are required for consideration. Applications will be sent out in early spring and accepted candidates will be notified before the end of the school year. Applications may be obtained online here.

Non-profit Status
CMA Parent Booster Club has been granted nonprofit status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donors may deduct contributions as provided in section 170 of the code. The certification letter can be found here.
Dragon Food Cookbook
The Carroll Medical Academy Boosters are excited to announce that The Dragon Food Cookbooks have arrived. The cookbooks are a wonderful present and a nice keepsake. They contain recipes submitted from the high school principals, teachers, staff, and Carroll parents.
The Cookbooks can be found in the Dragon Shop.
If you pre-ordered a cookbook, your student can sign our list and pick up your copy. If you did not pre-order and wish to purchase a cookbook, the cost is $10. Checks should be made out to Carroll Medical Academy Boosters.
